July Goals

As it is the holidays and I will have a lot of free time, I have decided that I will follow in the footsteps of others (namely shopaholly and apieceofwood) and make July my "work on my 101 list" month. I am making progress with my list and have completed some of my tasks but it's time I put some more effort in.

In previous blogs I have made some changes to my original list and that left 4 spaces for new goals. Here are my new ones, let me know what you think.

No.2 Get back to studying or get a job - I left my studying when my Mum was dying and it's been over a year since I lost her, so it's time to sort myself out and either do some more studying or put my knowledge to use and get a job. By the end of the summer I must do one or the other.

No.19 Visit an extended family member once a month (0/33)- obviously this can be the same family member more than once, I don't have that big a family. We live within 50 miles of quite a few Aunts and Uncles, cousins etc. but never seem to visit them enough and normally funerals (too many of these) and weddings (not so many of these lately) are the only times we all get together.

No.35 Write real paper letters (0/101) - May have read this on someone elses 101 list but I can't remember, so sorry if I'm copying. I used to enjoy writing letters a lot when I was younger and had different writing sets I used for different people. E-mailing is so much easier if you make a mistake (my spelling is frequently naff, I blame cheap biros!!) However I reckon I'd really enjoy this challenge. Not very green I know, but I will use recycled paper and ask the receipitants to recycle my letters.

No.101 Make or revamp 10 items (0/10) - Ok this sounds a bit wooly but I would like to make an item of clothing, make or a least revamp an item of furniture, and perhaps make some soft furnishings. Rather than make them individual goals this will encompass all my creative wants. Depending on how I manage I may well increase the amount but 10 seems a difficult enough challenge to begin with.

So there you have it new challenges and a month of really trying to accomplish them. Wish me luck.

Transformers 2

Well if you haven't seen it go. It is fantastic. Action packed and heaps of great one liners. The only bit I didn't like was the "borat" moment with the agent's arse. I actually had to hide my face, erlack big time. The special effects are amazing.
I will definitely be seeing this movie again, although I will only tick it off once on my list.
Go Autobots!!

Snot away!

Have finally got up and got dressed after 4 days in my bed. Still a little weak but so glad to be up and able to move. 4 days in bed has done nothing for my weightloss I have only lost 1/4 pound. It's amazing the scales even measure it but it's still a loss. Did manage to re read "The Half Blood Prince" before the movie comes out next month.

Have completed recycle challenge, but as I wasn't out shopping. I only used 2 tetra cartons (not that this is a bad thing) However they are washed, squashed and recycled and I will be carrying on doing it so that's good.

As I am now feeling better I am being taken to see Transformers 2 this afternoon by Babes and Peanut. They have seen it and letched over Megan Fox but I still have to. (Not that I will be letching over Megan). Anyway will post again when I come home.

I need Tuuunnneeesss

Whatever happened to Tunes? (to help you breathe more easily) I am full of Babes cold and am not impressed. I'm snuffly and shivery and just YUK in general. I was supposed to be going to the theatre tonight to see the "How to Look Good Glaikit" show by "The Flying Pigs" am so peeved to be missing it.

Recycle Week Pledge

I have pledged to squash and recycle all my cartons for Recycle Week. I hadn't realised that our local council could now recycle tetra cartons. If I fail in my pledge I am not allowed to watch the new CSI Miami episode on 30/6. This would be a big problem for me as I love the programme and the opening episode of the new series looks a belter. Could Horatio really be dead!!!!!!

Actually, having checked out the Recycle Now website, our local council does not fair that well compared to other areas, however I have discovered a few things that I could be recycling that I'm not (ignorance is to blame) Now I am better informed I will be recycling even more stuff, Which is all good news for our family and the planet.

Happy Father's Day

To all Daddy's out there. Wishing you a great day, hope you manage to spend time with your children young or old.

Special good wishes to all servicemen away from their children may you be reunited soon.

Keeping my vet in practice.....

At least that's what it feels like lately. In the last month I have been to the vet 8 times and I'm not yet finished for the month.

Between the cats and the dogs we've had 3 health checks, 5 injections and the purchase of the summer flea treatments for the cats (we always get them done during the summer as that's when they're most likely to pick them up) I am back next week with the dogs for weight checks before I can pick up their summer flea treatments, and another 2 vaccinations (1 dog,1 cat). It's a good job there are no more boosters due until August.

Ah well the joys of having a zoo I suppose!!

To boldly go........

Have been to see the new Star Trek movie again and I think it's fab. I'm a huge fan anyway but even if you weren't this film could stand alone as a good sci-fi movie. I love the way that the new film incorporates the little characteristics of the original crew. Simon Pegg's Scottish accent is absurd (but love his one liners) then again, James Doonhan's wasn't that great either. There is a lot of comedy in the film and special effects are really good. It will definitely be joining my DVD library when it comes out, and I hope we can look forward to more trek films with this cast.

Have also been to see the new Terminator movie. Loved it too. Much better than Terminator 3, where the initial car chase lasted half the bloody movie (at least it felt like that).
Would recommend both these movies if you haven't already seen them.

Batteries not included!

Am so chuffed I've lost 7lbs this week, Wasn't sure if I'd done it cos the battery was going on the all singing all dancing scales (these fancy ones that give you your weight, bmi, %of fat loss, colour of your eyes, etc) and everytime you stood on them it gave you a different reading.
Hubby and I were having a right laugh moving them round the kitchen floor seeing how low we could get them to go! However, battery now replaced and I have lost my half stone. Long may this continue and perhaps I'll finally make a big dent in my extra tonnage.

Damn grumpies

Both my hubby and my oldest daughter are trying to stop smoking. They are so bloody touchy. I hope they get over it soon. I want to be full of the joys of spring but they keep shooting me down in flames everytime I start singing (and no it's not just my dulcet tones).

I will just sing on line "I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and gay ok maybe I get their point.!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to be Green

I am trying to be more green, Eco-friendly and all round good egg to the planet but finding a lot of confusing stuff out there. Ideally I would like to have solar panels and our own wind turbine but that's not feasible or affordable at this present time. We are doing all the usual changing to low energy bulbs, recycling, turning off lights, turning down thermostats and switching off all plugs that we can but I feel I would like to/could be doing more.

Can anyone suggest any really good books/websites I can check for practical advice. I know a lot of you use greener products but am unsure where best to get them from or which ones are best for the environment. Any tips/hints/advice would be most welcome.

I want to rant!

WTF is going on in the world of politics. I am not usually one to get much involved (although I do always vote - people died to give me that right)
BUT....... all this bloody expense claims nonsense (Joe public would be off to stay at her maj's pleasure if we committed that type of fraud)
and resignations (it's changing by the minute)

Then I discover that the PM is phoning around to enquire after contestants in talent shows. (I'm not slagging Susan Boyle) but isn't whats going on in the country a little more important. (Now don't jump down my throat saying he was only showing concern for a fellow human being I feel bad for the lady and wish her well).
I am well peeved at the politicians (they're all as bad as each other)

Anyway rant over I will now go back to my chaotic world and leave them to sort their chaotic homes!!!!

Kitten sadness

Poor Tila has aborted her kittens. The vet said these things happen sometimes and gave her an injection of antibiotics to make sure she doesn't get an infection. We have to wait a couple of weeks and have her rechecked to see if any kittens have survived but it is unlikely. It could have been very nasty for her but thankfully she seems to have recovered and seems happy and contented again.

Exclusive *Tila Tequila* pregnant!!

At least our little Tila is. Didn't even know the little toot had been in season and now we're expecting new kittens in about 3/4 weeks. She's got at least 4 in there the vet reckons.
Holly (shopaholly) has bet me £100 that I will keep at least 1 but probably 2 of the kittens. Am determined to prove her wrong but I think it more likely she will win. Must be strong, must not fall for the teeny weeny cutie pies that are so soft and furry and no one could possibly love them and look after them as well as me!!!!!!!!! (Enough - No More Animals)
Am in grave danger of turning into nutty old cat lady (ok I'm 3/4 way there but don't own dodgy old lady shopping trolley unlike some I could mention)
Anyway will keep you updated and post photo's as available but here is a pre pregnant Tila to keep you going.
