Ice Age 3

Just been to see this as a reward for Mouse as that is her finished primary school forever. Can't believe my baby has grown up so fast. So another one off the 101 movies list
Anyway movie very good, not quite as hilarious as previous 2 I thought, but still really funny. Do recommend it as a must see especially for those who are still in touch with the little kid inside them.

Creative writing Rant

Why do journalists get away with printing trash? Our local paper has a full front page article on the local bus drivers demanding a 52% pay rise. WTF! Passengers are getting on the bus and having a go at the drivers, blaming them for high fares and saying they've got a bloody cheek asking for that much.

Honestly, do they really think they'd ask for that. Get a bloody grip, of course they haven't. I know it's to sell more papers but come on journalists what happened to common sense.

OMG I don't believe it!!

Just been looking over my past posts checking up on some stuff and I realise I haven't posted about our new beastie. What can I say, another poor abandoned pup. Why do people do that it makes me so crazy GGGRRRRR.
Anyway needless to say the saps stepped in and we have provided a loving if somewhat chaotic home to Jay (name may change as he doesn't seem to answer to it anyway, and really it's far too normal for us) He is about 4 months old (or thought to be), cute as a button and fits in well at the zoo. Brings you his empty bowl when he thinks it's time to eat (which would be every hour given the chance). Do you like him?

More 101......

No31. Organise my garden - Having neglected the garden for the last year and a bit it looks bloody awful. Overgrown and in serious need of TLC, I made a start today with the help of Peanut. Our front garden is quite long and has two big lawn areas with the path running down the middle, and borders around the edges. The grass has only been cut twice so far this season so beautiful yellow flowers (OK weeds) have sprouted up everywhere. Peanut started with the mower and after only one line/strip the mower started smoking (poor bloody thing giving up in protest I shouldn't wonder).
He is now going round with the strimmer in order to cut down the really long bits so we can rake it up and then try the mower again. Fingers crossed, I can't afford a new mower at the moment and may have to investigate hiring goats/sheep/cows to maintain my lawn. I'm sure the neighbours will love this, NOT, at least we'd get free manure for the roses.

More 101 in progress

No25. Drink only water for a month - I have failed this task before but am attempting again this month so 1 day down 30 to go.
No.37 Learn to blog - I am going to mark this as completed now, as I no longer need to call on shopaholly every time I want to do stuff. You may have noticed I even updated my layout (new lists) without her help. Simple stuff I know but I was completely useless before.
No54. Get my puppy to stop chewing things - This is another one completed as Hamish is a changed dog (well as far as destroying stuff goes) I blogged before about how it came about so I won't bore you again but well done Hamish. (see above photo of our clever boy)
No90. Donate 101,000 grains of rice - I love this challenge I am up to 90,600 grains and learning about famous paintings at the same time. I can now spot a Franz Marc or Edgar Degas a mile off (as they say)

101 List in progress

No.34 Read 101 books of my choice. I have so far read 6:
We bought a zoo by Benjamin Mee - Good read laughed and cried at the ups and downs. Amazing what positive thinking can achieve.
Look who it is by Alan Carr - very funny read and interesting how his career developed.
That's another story by Julie Walters - Another funny read, some of the things she got up to!
Half Blood Prince by J K Rowling - wanted to re-read before the movie came out. Darker than the previous but really enjoyed it (again) I know they are meant to be children's books but I love them.
Are these my basoomas I see before me? by Louise Rennison - The last in the series of Georgia Nicolson confessions. I had started reading these with my daughters years ago and found them so hilarious. It took me right back to the agonies and joys of being a teenager. Had to read this one when it came out just to see how the saga ends.
Dear Fatty by Dawn French - This is such a good read, and very easy to read with it being divided up as letters rather than chapters. Found it easy to fit in a short letter here and there when I wouldn't have had time to read a chapter.

July Goals

As it is the holidays and I will have a lot of free time, I have decided that I will follow in the footsteps of others (namely shopaholly and apieceofwood) and make July my "work on my 101 list" month. I am making progress with my list and have completed some of my tasks but it's time I put some more effort in.

In previous blogs I have made some changes to my original list and that left 4 spaces for new goals. Here are my new ones, let me know what you think.

No.2 Get back to studying or get a job - I left my studying when my Mum was dying and it's been over a year since I lost her, so it's time to sort myself out and either do some more studying or put my knowledge to use and get a job. By the end of the summer I must do one or the other.

No.19 Visit an extended family member once a month (0/33)- obviously this can be the same family member more than once, I don't have that big a family. We live within 50 miles of quite a few Aunts and Uncles, cousins etc. but never seem to visit them enough and normally funerals (too many of these) and weddings (not so many of these lately) are the only times we all get together.

No.35 Write real paper letters (0/101) - May have read this on someone elses 101 list but I can't remember, so sorry if I'm copying. I used to enjoy writing letters a lot when I was younger and had different writing sets I used for different people. E-mailing is so much easier if you make a mistake (my spelling is frequently naff, I blame cheap biros!!) However I reckon I'd really enjoy this challenge. Not very green I know, but I will use recycled paper and ask the receipitants to recycle my letters.

No.101 Make or revamp 10 items (0/10) - Ok this sounds a bit wooly but I would like to make an item of clothing, make or a least revamp an item of furniture, and perhaps make some soft furnishings. Rather than make them individual goals this will encompass all my creative wants. Depending on how I manage I may well increase the amount but 10 seems a difficult enough challenge to begin with.

So there you have it new challenges and a month of really trying to accomplish them. Wish me luck.

Transformers 2

Well if you haven't seen it go. It is fantastic. Action packed and heaps of great one liners. The only bit I didn't like was the "borat" moment with the agent's arse. I actually had to hide my face, erlack big time. The special effects are amazing.
I will definitely be seeing this movie again, although I will only tick it off once on my list.
Go Autobots!!

Snot away!

Have finally got up and got dressed after 4 days in my bed. Still a little weak but so glad to be up and able to move. 4 days in bed has done nothing for my weightloss I have only lost 1/4 pound. It's amazing the scales even measure it but it's still a loss. Did manage to re read "The Half Blood Prince" before the movie comes out next month.

Have completed recycle challenge, but as I wasn't out shopping. I only used 2 tetra cartons (not that this is a bad thing) However they are washed, squashed and recycled and I will be carrying on doing it so that's good.

As I am now feeling better I am being taken to see Transformers 2 this afternoon by Babes and Peanut. They have seen it and letched over Megan Fox but I still have to. (Not that I will be letching over Megan). Anyway will post again when I come home.

Whatever happened to Tunes? (to help you breathe more easily) I am full of Babes cold and am not impressed. I'm snuffly and shivery and just YUK in general. I was supposed to be going to the theatre tonight to see the "How to Look Good Glaikit" show by "The Flying Pigs" am so peeved to be missing it.
